Heidi Klum was born in Bergisch Gladbach Germany on June 1 1973. Erna Klum was Heidi's mother, was a professional hairdresser. The father of Heidi Gunther Klum worked as a cosmetics company executive. Heidi's mother was the manager of production of 4711 Parfum. Born in Bergisch Gladbach (a city of about 100,000 residents, just about six miles to the west of Cologne) Heidi was raised there. Her past life was as a German-American fashion model who now works as a TV host as well as a fashion producer. Klum had to compete against 25,000 competitors from Germany as well as Europe to become one of three semifinalists. In April of 1992, Klum was awarded a Top Model prize of $300,000.
